60 years of achievements

Our story began in 1959 when, at the time, young lawyers Paul Garland and Carlos Emilio Stroeter, both graduates of Harvard University, founded the firm. The business went so well that in 1967 the Office expanded its operations to Rio de Janeiro, followed by Brasilia in 1993 and Porto Alegre in 2001.

In these 60 years, we reaffirm our tradition, expertise and excellence in the market alongside our professionals and everyone who made this story with us. We are a truly full service office, which enables us to work across multiple practice groups combined, always aiming for the best outcome for our clients and with active participation in winning major cases.

We are also committed to Corporate Social Responsibility through our Sustainability, Pro Bono, Diversity and Inclusion Committees – an area in which we are pioneers. We were acknowledged as the best company in the Small and Medium Enterprises category of Exame Diversity Guide and received the Diversity and Human Rights Seal of the São Paulo City Hall.

In addition, we are a company that is truly committed to people, which is reflected in the relationship with our teams. This year, for example, we promoted several actions for employees, reaffirming something very important for us, the value of the culture of friendship, through cultural and sports activities and awareness campaigns for different causes.

Despite all our history of achievement, we are always thinking one step ahead, innovating and creating new ways to better serve our customers. We have partners who have made a difference and started the journey for us to continue to develop our activities, while we have a very young and updated team, completely aware of current market needs.

We are one of the few law firms in Brazil with an area independent from Governance, acting under the management of a Compliance and Internal Legal Director. We were awarded the Certification of Good Practices in Data Protection based on the LGPD by Tradius, the first certification of this type in the legal market.
