The ANP publishes the tender protocol and the form of the concession agreement for the 17th Bidding Round
Last Tuesday (July 27, 2021), the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency – ANP published the tender protocol and the form of the concession agreement for the 17th Bidding Round of oil and gas exploration and production blocks.
The public session for submission of bids is scheduled to occur on October 7, 2021, and the bidding round comprises ninety-two blocks with exploratory risk, totaling an area of 53.93 thousand km², which are located on eleven high potential and new frontier sectors of four Brazilian maritime sedimentary basins: Campos, Pelotas, Potiguar and Santos.
Three of the blocks (S-M-1378, S-M-1613, S-M-1617), located on sector SS-AUP5 of Santos Basin, are beyond the 200 nautical miles limit. Consequently, the concession agreement for these blocks set forth that the winning bidder shall be liable for the amounts payable to the International Seabed Authority – ISA, pursuant to article 82 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Companies interested in participating shall submit the participation form, enrollment documents and pay the participation fee by August 11, 2021. The complete schedule of the bidding round provided for in the tender protocol is found below:
