FEDERAL DECREE ESTABLISHES CONSUMIDOR.GOV.BR AS THE OFFICIAL PLATFORM OF THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION ON CONSUMER DISPUTE RESOLUTIONS
Federal Decree No. 10.197/2020 was published on January 3rd, 2020 to establish the website “consumidor.gov.br” as the official platform for the direct federal public administration to resolve consumer dispute resolution.
According to the Decree, agencies and entities that possess their own platforms for consumer disputes resolution will migrate their services to “consumidor.gov.br” by December 31, 2020. The agencies and entities part of the federal public administration will have access to the claims filed with “consumidor.gov.br” related to their area of expertise for the purpose of creation, monitoring and evaluation of their actions.
As an exception, agencies and entities that have service channels whose scale and specificity are justified may maintain their own platforms, but only if those platforms meet user experience parameters and have data interoperability with “consumidor.gov.br“.
Finally, the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety will be required to integrate “consumidor.gov.br” with the unified website “gov.br” until December 31, 2020.
The Decree will come into force on March 1, 2020.
