Pride Month
In June, we are celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, which aims to raise awareness and reinforce the importance of respecting and promoting social and professional equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and other people.
Pride Month was chosen in celebration of the Stonewall riots, which occurred on 28 June 1969. Also called a rebellion or uprising, Stonewall was a landmark in the fight for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and got its name thanks to the Stonewall Inn bar, in Greenwich Village, New York City, where a group of regulars decided to rebel against the police repression that afflicted this bar.
For years, our firm has demonstrated its pride and support for the cause through our MOVE LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group, with awareness-raising actions, events, participation in name-rectification drives, group marriages, awareness-raising on commemorative dates and partnerships with clients and institutions, among others. In addition, we were the first law firm in the country to become a signatory of the LGBTI+ Companies and Rights Forum, which brings together large corporations around the commitment to respect and promote the human rights of the community.
This month, let’s celebrate together inclusion through the colors of this movement!
