Higher Courts

With a presence in Brasília for over 30 years, Trench Rossi Watanabe has built a solid reputation for integrity and quality in its work before the higher courts. We represent large multinational and local companies in highly complex cases, which require in-depth knowledge of both procedural techniques and substantive law, combined with detailed knowledge of case law and the workings of the courts.

The chances of success in appeals to the higher courts depend on the proper preparation of cases in the lower courts. Our experienced lawyers in Brasília work closely with the professionals handling the cases in the local courts to maximize the chances of success in any appeals to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Federal Supreme Court (STF). This collaborative approach sets our practice apart. We assume that all relevant cases will, at some point, be referred to the higher courts. We also assess the chances of success of appeals or the best solution according to appropriate conflict resolution mechanisms, including alternatives for self-composition, involving private individuals or public authorities.

The practice before the higher courts is coordinated by Partner Tulio do Egito Coelho, who founded the Brasília office and has more than 30 years of experience in the federal capital. He is recognized for his work on complex legal issues before the courts and the federal public administration, always maintaining a high standard of professional ethics.
